A little history…
The Lancaster’s first historic flight took place on 9th January 1941; only a short year prior to its commencement of service for the British RAF. Roy Chadwick of Avro Manchester designed this formidable, four engine heavy bomber; which was later evolved to carry the largest payload of the Second World War. Namely the Tallboy and Grandslam Earthquake bombs, making this bomber the centre piece of nighttime bombing strikes throughout the war.
In modern day the Lancaster has become a particular point of interest for Aviation enthusiasts around the globe with only a handful of the 7000+ Lancaster planes accessible by the public.
